As J. Ash Odinsson offered, so shall I. Thank You To All of Our Readers.
This isn’t hyperbole, it’s because of you that we’re here and that’s whether you’re of a Pagan/Polytheist persuasion or not. On a personal note, my entire reason for writing the articles that I do is to make every attempt at stopping the constant warring going on and to just leave each other alone if we just can’t seem to come to an agreement.
That being said, the fact that you’re here, reading this article and all the ones before it shows me, and I hope I’m right, that you’re on board with the same mentality. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
We at The Grove do have much to discuss behind the scenes, we do have some very lofty ambitions, however, we’ve started here and with each other. These are small and humble beginnings and, we all know, you have to start somewhere.
No business, brand, spiritual movement or anything for that matter, comes into existence as a megalithic structure, it has to be built over time. You’re very much an important and meaningful part of our process.
I explained in my comment to the last article that the tabletop gaming and the spiritual life, namely mine, are exclusively different things, however, there is some intersection. With these books, what we have are teaching tools. By immersing a person in their ancestry, I believe that, not only do they learn about history but they get to live a version of it.
You can see the Codeces in the top crate, They cover every time period from The Viking Age to Ancient China. Soon, Codex Infernum and Codex Exaltum will also take their place among these tomes which, to me, are exciting reads. Infernum, of course will be an updated version of Tome of The Unclean which has a multitude of demons. Exaltum will of course contain the angelic/celestial beings. If you wanted the game to take on Christian themes, even that’s possible.
There are other games like Runecairn which is an even simpler system, based on the rules of Cairn, which I have an active game going on and it’s very Sword & Sorcery in tone, it’s certainly not high fantasy but that’s the charm, some of us don’t need it to be. Games like these give us the ability to use them as educational tools. Some think they’re just playing a game. Meanwhile, they’re learning the subjects of history, reading, writing, reading comprehension, math and probability, problem-solving, and, in some cases, even architecture when you see levels of castles and towers or lower levels of dungeons and caverns.
If you start simply and build upon a solid foundation, teaching all of those subjects can be accomplished with only one game. You can also get this game yourself and give it a look and I hope you will and you can do it absolutely free. Start with Castles & Crusades, get the Monsters & Treasures Guide and check out Amazing Adventures as well as Manual of Monsters and then head to the Bag of Holding Site for even more goodies. Since all of this is free stuff, you have absolutely nothing to lose by downloading it all and then checking it out for yourself.
We have hit some small milestones since our conception and we will continue to hit those milestones, whether you’re just joining us, been reading since the beginning or you’ve only been around for a post or two, I still thank you all.
To close this short article out, I’d like to ask you for one favor. Join me in wishing J. Ash Odinsson a Happy Birthday as he celebrates one today and it spending it with family. Happy Birthday, Brother. May you have many many more.
