To be fair, I did search out some beautiful photos of the Auroras before going to Craiyon and having this one made which looks pretty good so before I kick this off, that’s where this image comes from. Attribution made, let’s go.
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis in person. Of everyone who has seen them, they tell me it’s breathtaking and they can last only a few minutes or even seconds, there’s just no way of telling but when they appear, it is something you’ll stare at in child-like wonder.
On dark nights, they’re a welcome sight. Beautiful emerald and sapphire colored bands practically ribbon the sky like a decoration against the darkness.
Some of us have faced some truly dark times. I know. Some of us have had our mental faculties negatively-affected by the lockdowns and the constant fear of either the virus (tuberculosis killed more people than COVID, fact) or what someone else will think of us.
I happen to know a man who physically attacked someone else with a shopping cart because he wasn’t wearing a mask and our policy was that, if they didn’t wear a mask…we didn’t bother them. We are talking about the same company that then told me if I didn’t take the shot I was fired. All of society wasn’t turned on itself. Fact is, we turned on each other.
Even now, there are people still choosing these mythical sides to the point where their ideology would permit them to commit atrocities. Some of them have even tried.
It’s a pretty dark world out there. To listen to mainstream media it’s one reason to panic right after another to the point that there’s so much overlap, I wouldn’t blame you if you were confused. I wouldn’t blame you if you threw your hands up and stretched out on the couch and said, “Yanno what? Fuck it.”
I wouldn’t blame you but I would be quick to point out that it’s actually good news.
This is the part where the “man behind the curtain” is going insane, turning wheels, pulling levers, flipping switches, claiming to be the Great And Powerful Grand Poo-Bah, screaming at you to “Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain!!!” while his gizmos create fire and spectacle.
Those people are desperate and their power structure is crumbling beneath them and all they can now do is attempt to distract you further. That is great news.
I know it’s hard to believe but look up. Metaphorically, you’re witnessing the Auroras. Sure, might only last for a few minutes but that breathtaking beauty is something you can remember for the rest of your life. Personally, I have a renewed sense of hope, if we can rein in the flatscans and keep their dumbfuckery to an absolute minimum. I have hope that we can stop the pendulum or slow it to the point where perhaps we don’t have to keep separating and dividing ourselves because, that’s the real truth. We did it to ourselves.
That also gives me hope. I can’t do anything about the people on the Hill. Neither can you. We can do something about us though.
Isn’t that great news? That the power is, has been and always shall be in our hands?
For me, it has me pretty elated. For the first time in awhile, I feel like I can breathe. The more days that pass, the more news I get that the light isn’t at the end of the tunnel. It’s right here. All we have to do is take the path we haven’t for awhile. The one toward peace and liberty that we haven’t actually given a solid try yet.
The thing that gives the sky that bit of shimmer to me, even though I don’t live anywhere near where the Auroras would actually show in the sky, that provides that bit of light when things get dark for me. Even if only for a few minutes.
I’ll take it every time.
Sacred groves were to watch such events. those stone boat shapes, you could sleep it and watch the stars. you could memorize the sky so well, that you would not get lost at sea.
ok. it can last all night. it depends on the sunspots. i was at stanley hot springs for a soak one time (it is a private hot spring on a mountain.) and i watched it along while. it was at the same time as the Perseid meteor showers, so. really something.
